Daimler Truck announced on Friday it has launched the production of its second electric vehicle, a waste disposal truck named eEconic, as part of plans to expand its footprint across the growing European market.
The vehicle will be assembled in the German town of Woerth, Rhineland-Palatinate, in the same facility where the company manufactures its electric heavy-duty truck eActros. According to the German truck & bus maker, a Danish waste disposal firm will be the first to receive eEconic trucks.
Commenting on the electric truck models, Chief Executive Martin Daum noted they would cost drivers a similar price in the long run compared to diesel models despite the significantly higher acquisition price, mostly due to smaller fueling costs.
