American DJ, dancer, and co-host of the Ellen Show Stephen TWitch Boss has passed away at the age of 40 to suicide, TMZ reported on Wednesday.
Boss’ wife Allison Holker Boss confirmed his death in a statement to People, in which she said: “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us.” But she did not provide information regarding the cause of his death
She continued to say: “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”
Boss’ death caught his fans by surprise, as the devastating news of his passing came two days after the late DJ posted a video on Instagram of himself and his wife dancing and having fun in their house in front of a Christmas tree.
TMZ quoted “law enforcement sources” as saying that Boss’ wife ran into a Los Angeles Police Department’s station on Tuesday, “and she was frantic because she said Stephen had left home without his car — something that was not like him at all.”
Shortly after, paramedics received a phone call for a medical emergency at a hotel in Los Angeles, where they found the late DJ, “dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” added TMZ, stating that Boss’ death was confirmed at the scene.
Boss rose to fame in 2008 when he was the runner-up in the American dance competition “So You Think You Can Dance.”
He began co-hosting and DJing on the Ellen Show in 2014 and continued doing so until the show wrapped up in May 2022.
