Kenyan Opposition leader, Raila Odinga has maintained that the demonstrations slated for Monday are still on.
Speaking in Nakuru, Raila said he and his supporters will not entertain any threats from the government.
He once again took a swipe at President William Ruto maintaining that he did not legitimately win last August elections.
“We have enough witnesses to prove that William Ruto did not win. If he actually won, let him open the IEBC servers,” he said.
Raila said that he is not scared of any threats.
“You can assassinate Raila physically, but his spirit will live forever,” he said.
“You cannot threaten us, we will meet face to face on Monday,” he added.
On Tuesday, the President vowed not to allow any attempts whatsoever by Raila to blackmail the country.
Speaking at State House, the head of State said he had no problem with the protests but urged Raila to engage the police over the March 20 mega demos.
“We must tell my good friend Raila Odinga. Enough is enough. You cannot continue to blackmail the country. We have no problem with you organising demonstrations but please it is your responsibility to work with the police to make sure there is peace,” Ruto said.
Raila dismissed reports by Denis Itumbi that the Azimio camp is out to destroy businesses that belong to people from Mt Kenya.
Raila also said the hustler narrative was just propaganda, as the interests of the ordinary people are no longer being looked into.
He said the group will not relent until Azimio’s grievances are addressed.
Speaking at the same rally, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the team was standing up against the high cost of living.
He said Azimio leaders have been going around the country and Kenyans have spoken and said they are hungry and pushed to the edge as a result of the high cost of living.
He maintained that the planned Monday demo will be peaceful and no property will be destroyed.
“I want us to take an oath here that our demos on Monday will be very peaceful,” he said.
He said every Kenyan has a constitutional right to hold peaceful.
