Egypt’s electoral commission has announced President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as winner for a third term in office.
The president is reported to have gained about 90% of the vote, in an election held last week.
The presidential candidates were three running for the prestige political position but none of them were considered threatening against Sisi.
Mr Sisi has been in office since 2014 where he won by 97% of the vote. He won with the same share in 2018.
The main opposition candidate Ahmed Tantawy pulled out months before last week’s poll, claiming intimidation and violence against his campaign camp.
Egypt’s faltering economy and the war in Gaza were key electoral issues.
“I followed the elections scene closely, and I want to express my great gratitude to all the Egyptians who participated in the elections during this ‘delicate circumstances’ in which the country faces most notably the war on our borders, which poses challenges to national security and the Palestinian cause,” President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
“I was filled with happiness at the sight of all Egyptians lining up to cast their ballots at the Elections,” he added.
