Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has commended the country’s ongoing productive partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and extended congratulations to the bank’s president, Akinwumi Adesina, on receiving the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership.
In a statement, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed highlighted his meeting with Dr. Abdul Kamara on Friday, during which they discussed ongoing AfDB-funded projects in Ethiopia, underscoring the fruitful collaboration between the East African nation and the multilateral development finance institution.
“Ethiopia’s partnership with the African Development Bank continued to be productive,” the Prime Minister stated.
“This morning, I received and held discussions on AfDB_Group projects in Ethiopia with Dr. Abdul Kamara.”
The African Development Bank has been a key partner in Ethiopia’s development efforts, supporting various initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth, infrastructure development, and social progress in the country.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also seized the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the AfDB, on his recent recognition with the Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership. The prestigious award, named after the late Nigerian statesman and philosopher, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to leadership and nation-building in Africa.
“Additionally, I seize this opportunity to congratulate my brother, Akin Adesina, on receiving the Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership,” the Prime Minister said, expressing his appreciation for Adesina’s leadership at the helm of the AfDB.
Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, a renowned agricultural economist and former Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, has been at the forefront of driving the AfDB’s agenda for inclusive and sustainable development across the African continent.
