Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has named his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the announcement coming on 1 June, the deadline set by FIFA for all participating nations to submit their lists.
The Black Stars had been in camp in Cardiff since last week, working through a provisional 28-man group as preparations intensified ahead of the tournament, which is being held across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Queiroz was forced into a late change in defence after experienced centre-back Alexander Djiku picked up an injury while playing for his club, ruling him out of the tournament. Derrick Luckassen was called up as his replacement.
The squad features 25 foreign-based players, with goalkeeper Benjamin Asare the only player drawn from the Ghana Premier League. His inclusion highlights the heavy reliance on the diaspora that has come to define the Black Stars in recent years.
Three goalkeepers , Lawrence Ati Zigi, Joseph Annan and Asare , have been named. The defensive unit is led by Jerome Opoku, Kojo Oppong Perprah, Abdul Mumin, Marvin Senaya, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah and Baba Rahman, with Luckassen’s late call-up adding to the options at the back.

Thomas Teye Partey anchors a midfield that also includes Elisha Owusu, Kwesi Sibo, Caleb Yirenkyi, Augustine Boakye and Ernest Nuamah. Fataw Abdul, Bonsu Baah and Kamaldeen Suleimana provide the wide options, while the attacking positions are covered by Brandon Thomas Asante, Iñaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew.
Ghana will now step up preparations with a friendly against Wales on 2 June, followed by a further warm-up against Jamaica on 10 June.
Their World Cup campaign opens on 17 June against Panama, with further Group L fixtures against England and Croatia to follow.
Ghana are targeting a return to the knockout stages for the first time since their memorable quarter-final run at the 2010 tournament in South Africa , still their best-ever World Cup finish.
The team scheduled to play against Wales on Tuesday at Cardiff as the final preparation towards the 2026 Mondial, which comes as the biggest edition in the history of the tounament.
