Ghana’s journey toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup continues as head coach Otto Addo has announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar.
The squad features a mix of experienced international players and promising talent, including the return of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who missed four Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers last year.
Captain Jordan Ayew will lead the team, supported by three home-based players: Benjamin Asare (Accra Hearts of Oak), Kamaradini Mamudu (Medeama SC), and Razak Simpson (Nations FC).
Southampton FC’s Kamal Deen Sulemana makes his return to the national team after recovering from a lengthy injury, while Jerry Afriyie of CD Lugo retains his place after an impressive showing against Niger last November. Belgium-based Christopher Bonsu Baah of Genk is another notable inclusion, bringing versatility as a left-footed right-winger who can also operate as an attacking midfielder.
The Black Stars will assemble on Monday, March 17, in Accra to begin preparations for their first match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21. The team will then travel to Morocco for their second qualifier against Madagascar on Monday, March 24.
The Black Stars, currently second in Group I with nine points, will be looking to strengthen their position with strong performances in both fixtures.
Ghana’s qualification campaign has been solid so far, with three wins from four matches, including victories over Madagascar, Mali, and the Central African Republic. Their only setback came against Comoros, with whom they are level on points in Group I.
With the squad now finalized, expectations are high for Ghana to secure maximum points from these two crucial matches and take a significant step toward qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
