Ghana’s male 4x100m relay team has booked their spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning their heat in an impressive 38.29 seconds in a thrilling performance at the World Relays in Bahamas.
The Ghanaian quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Isaac Botsio, Benjamin Azamati and Joseph Paul Amoah made amends for their baton mishap on Sunday by putting up a flawless display on Monday to secure the automatic Olympic qualification.
Ghana finished ahead of Nigeria, who also qualified for Paris 2024 by clocking 38.57s to take the second auto qualifier spot. The Dominican Republic completed the podium in 39.16s.
This redemptive run by the Ghanaian sprinters ensures their nation’s representation in athletics at the upcoming Olympics is solidified after their initial setback.
Joining Ghana and Nigeria in earning 2024 Paris berths from the World Relays was the nation of Liberia, whose performance also met the Olympic qualification standard.
The Ghanaian team will now set their sights on fine-tuning their baton exchanges and continuing to improve their times as they prepare to do their nation proud on the biggest athletic stage next year in Paris.
