An unidentified man has suffered severe burn injuries when he attempted to steal cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana at Tanokrom a community in the Effia Kwesiminstim Municipality of the Western region.
Western region Head of communications for the Electricity Company of Ghana, Mr. Bnejamin Quarcoe indicated in an interview with Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning show that the suspects bolted from the scene after cutting some wires at their substation.
“The incident happened at one of our substations around the Takoradi Mall. They started stealing our cables three days ago. They cut the wires causing power fluctuations to our customers. They came again and we believe one of them received shock because we can see blood and human skin at the station but they are nowhere to be found”, he added.
He believes the injured suspect might be receiving care at a health facility due to the severe injuries he sustained. He called on the public to be on the lookout for such person and report him to the Police.
“We believe he is nursing the burns somewhere and we are calling on the public to assist us with information in case they come around”, he added.
Few hours after he reported the incident, a call came through to Connect FM indicating the suspect has been spotted somewhere nursing his wounds. Available pictures show severe burn injuries on the suspect.
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has since been informed and efforts are underway to grab the suspect from his hideout.
