Highlife musician Amakye Dede has finally opened up about using the word “serious” anytime he is performing.
He sees his craft as a business and therefore attaches a very high level of seriousness to it anytime he is performing.
The “su free wo nyame” hitmaker says sometimes while performing, his bands men get so engrossed with the music and lose focus on the job so in order not to distract them, he shouts “serious” to draw them back to their focus.
Amakye Dede says this has worked for him over the years and therefore has had to maintain it.
“I can even come and step on your foot if you are not paying attention to the work. When I say serious I’m telling my team to be serious. They need to be serious.”
He explained that when he walks in town and people shout “serious” he feels good because that’s the brand he has been given by the people of Ghana.
On where he gets his energy from her said “if you know that the job is your business and you know that you’re doing this business then you must be serious on it. I like the business and I’ve to entertain them. If somebody pays money to come and watch you, you have to pay back,” he said.
