Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies have booked a slot to represent at the next edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Nigerian side Delta Queens 1-0 in the WAFU Zone B qualifiersat at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Thursday, August 31.
Striker Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah scored the only goal in the 43rd minute to help the Ghanaians seal the deal.
Amponsah headed into the net from a rebound in the 42nd minute of the game to register her second goal of the tournament having also scored in the semifinal.
The victory also means Ampem Darkoa Ladies will represent WAFU Zone B at the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League to be held in November in Cote d’Ivoire. More to follow.
It is the second time the reigning Champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League is making it to the continental stage.
They also become the second Ghanaian team to play at the CAF Women’s Champions League following the participation of Hasaacas Ladies in the maiden edition in 2021.
Hasmal Ladies however suffered heartbreak in the final of the maiden edition, losing to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns.
