In a statement released on Wednesday, February 14, it was announced that the changes were with immediate effect.
The sacking of finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta by President Akufo Addo has been long overdue. Some time 2023, some members of parliament in the ruling party called for his resignation, accusing him of economic mismanagement. The president promised of sacking him after leading the International Monetary Fund (IMF) team for fruitful negotiations.
Other ministers who have been sacked are the Minister for Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu; and the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Kwaku Afriyie.
Below is the list of 13 ministers affected by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s reshuffle.

- Ambrose Dery – Interior
- Kwaku Agyeman Manu – Health
- Dr. Kwaku Afriyie – Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
- Kojo Oppong Nkrumah – Information
- Kwasi Amoako-Atta – Roads and Highways
- Francis Asenso Boakye – Works and Housing
- Lariba Abudu – Gender, Children and Social Protection
- Dan Botwe – Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development
- Freda Prempeh – Sanitation and Water Resources
- Ibrahim Mohammed Awal – Tourism, Arts and Culture
- Henry Quartey – Greater Accra Region
- Joseph Makubu – Oti Region
Critics believe the President’s decision is prudent and strategic going into the general elections in December. They say many of the ministers who have been fired lost their parliamentary candidacy which the president thinks they might affect the party’s performance.
