Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appealed to Commonwealth Nations to join calls for the release of ousted Nigerien President, Mohamed Bazoum.
In his address at the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in the country’s capital Accra, he said Members of Parliament must be agents of democracy.
President Mohamed Bazoum, was on July 27 overthrown by soldiers from the presidential guard which he has been in custody at the president palace basement till now.
President Akufo-Addo bemoaned the recent coups on the African continent and the threats such coups pose to peace and economic stability.
Akufo-Addo in his recent 2nd ECOWAS Parliamentary Seminar speech decry that: “Democracy in west Africa is in danger we must work even harder to entrench the principles of democratic accountability in the citizenry.”
