Police in the Ashanti Region of Ghana have arrested a male housekeeper for allegedly killing his young boss in cold blood and fleeing the scene with her car, barely a month after he was employed.
The gruesome crime unfolded within the confines of the victim’s own home, leaving residents of Ampeyoo and Ampabame astounded by the callousness and brutality displayed by the alleged killer whose name is withheld.
The victim, known as Afua Ahenkan or Princess Afua, had employed the suspect as a housekeeper to assist with various household tasks given that her husband resided in the United Kingdom.
But what should have been a routine working relationship took a sinister turn when the accused allegedly carried out this horrifying act on Princess Afua, who is a businesswoman.
She reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds at the hands of the young man she had hired through an agency just a month ago, the report says.
The assailant reportedly launched his attack on the deceased while she was engaged in a phone call. Her desperate cries for help raised the suspicions of the person on the other end of the line, prompting them to rush to her home after repeated, unanswered calls.
She was found lifeless within his residence. It is reported that multiple stab wounds were visible on the victim’s body, indicating a violent struggle that ended tragically.
The suspect bolted with Ahenkan’s car, money, and personal belongings.
The Ashanti Central Regional Police Command dispatched investigators to the crime scene after a report was made.
According to the police, the alleged perpetrator is presently in their custody after a manhunt was initiated to locate the him and was arrested at his hideout on the outskirts of Kumasi.The motive behind his heinous act remains unclear at this time, and investigators say they are diligently working to uncover the events that led up to this shocking incident.
Meanwhile Afua’s body was taken to the mortuary at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where it awaits an autopsy.
