Kenya made their long awaited return to national team football as the Harambee Stars traveled to the Azadi Stadium in Tehran for a match with Iran, losing by 2-1.
Michael Olunga gave Kenya the lead early in the second half but Mohammad Mohebi and Ramin Rezaeian answered for the hosts to give Iran a 2-1 victory.
The Harambee Stars had not played a match since November 2021 when they defeated Rwanda 2-1 to close out their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
