The Government of Korea has extended its support to Ghana in hosting the 2023 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting by presenting Information Technology (IT) equipment to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.
The donation includes 20 printers and 20 laptop computers, which will be instrumental in facilitating the conference’s preparations and smooth operations.
During the presentation ceremony on Tuesday, 25th July 2023, Jung-Taek Lim, the Ambassador of Korea to Ghana, praised Ghana for being the first country in Africa to accept the responsibility of hosting this significant conference.
He announced that the Government of Korea is committed to donating approximately $1 million worth of IT products and vehicles to support Ghana in ensuring the success of the high-profile event in December 2023.
Ambassador Lim also commended Ghana for its pivotal role in contributing to United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations over the years. He assured that the Government of Korea will continue to collaborate closely with Ghana to ensure the seamless organization of the 2023 UN Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference.
In response, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Korea for their generous support.
He emphasised that the IT equipment will significantly aid the work of the Planning Committee of the Ministerial Meeting and its Secretariat, enabling them to host a successful and impactful conference.
The 2023 United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Meeting is a crucial gathering that will address pressing global issues related to peacekeeping efforts.
