Meghan Markle wrote a letter about racism to King Charles. The Duchess of Sussex penned the letter after her and Prince Harry’s bombshell 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, revealing the royal family member who had concerns about the skin color of her first child Archie.
According to the Telegraph on Friday, April 21, Meghan expressed her concerns about “unconscious bias” within the royal family in a letter to the King. “Yes, there was correspondence, there were letters back and forth from the Duchess of Sussex to the king,” a source confirmed to Page Six.
The source continued, “But she’s moved on, this was two years ago, it has nothing to do with her decision not to attend the coronation.” The letter allegedly identified the name of a senior member of the royal family who allegedly made the comment.
The insider shared that the letters were sent following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s controversial interview in which Meghan revealed that a member of the Royal family had speculated about the color of her unborn son’s skin. The former “Suits” actress, however, refused to name the person, saying, “I think that would be very damaging to them.”
Prince Harry also declined to speak further about the matter. However, he suggested that it was just a single conversation that had taken place.
Christopher Andersen previously claimed in his book “Brothers And Wives: Inside The Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan” that Charles was the one who questioned Archie’s skin tone, though it was never proven. Additionally, palace insiders briefed that it was neither Queen Elizabeth II nor Prince Phillip.
The new report added that both Charles and Meghan “acknowledged that the individual’s remark was not made with malice.” However, the Telegraph added, “The Palace is also aware of the Sussexes’ frustration that initial email correspondence about the Coronation made no reference to their children and their potential involvement. The omission only fuelled their feeling that their family plays second fiddle to the Waleses.”
