Morocco has ranked 75th on cybersecurity firm Surfshark’s Digital Quality of Life Index, dropping four places from last year, but ranking second in Africa.
Despite the drop in rank, the country recorded a slight increase in score from 0.41 in 2022, to 0.42 this year.
In terms of internet affordability, Morocco achieved a score of 0.13, ranking 72nd worldwide, up from 78th last year. On the other hand, internet quality remained stagnant with a score of 0.3, but plummeted in the ranking, going down from 83rd position to 94th.
Similarly, the country fell four places in e-infrastructure, from 83rd to 87th, with a score of 0.63.
The domain of electronic government did not fare much better, as the country ranked 90th, with the score going down from 0.5 to 0.48. Finally, in electronic security, Morocco ranked 40th with a score of 0.57.
Globally, France ranked first in the index with a score of 0.79, followed by Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Luxembourg.
Making up the rest of the top ten, Spain came in 6th, followed by Estonia, Austria, Switzerland, and Singapore.
In Africa, South Africa was first, ranking 72nd globally. Morocco also ranked first in North Africa, ahead of countries like Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt, which also made the ranking.
