King Mohammed VI addressed a written message to Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.
According to a report from the Saudi Press Agency, the message revolved around the robust and profound bilateral relations between the two nations and their peoples.
In addition, the letter explored new venues to further support and enhance these ties across various domains.
The agency specified that the Crown Prince’s representative, Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al-Issa, Minister of State and Member of the Council of Ministers, received the message during his audience in Riyadh on Sunday.
Bin Abdulrahman Al-Issa held discussions with Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita, and the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa.
During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two nations with the view of seeking opportunities to strengthen cooperation in diverse areas.
The officials equally held discussions on matters of mutual interest for the two countries.
Morocco-Saudi Arabia ties
One of the key areas of collaboration between the two nations involves the economic sector, as they have entered into multiple agreements aimed at fostering trade and investment.
As of 2022, the bilateral trade volume between Morocco and Saudi Arabia reached $1.7 billion.
Morocco and Saudi Arabia have also signed various agreements to explore and enhance their cooperation in the field of energy. In 2022, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) concerning the peaceful use of atomic energy.
Another significant aspect of cooperation relates to the military and security domains.
In January of this year, Vice President of Saudi State Security Abdullah Fahad Salih Al-Owais was hosted in Rabat by the head of Morocco’s General Directorates of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST).
During the meeting, the two parties signed an agreement aimed at bolstering their joint efforts in combating terrorism.
Saudi Arabia stands among the countries that firmly support Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Sahara.
