Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has pledged his commitment to supporting peace and democracy across the world.
Tinubu said this after joining other heads of state and government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, on Thursday to commemorate the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day.
The celebration, which originally marked Guinea-Bissau’s 50th Independence Anniversary on September 24, 2023, was rescheduled to November 16, 2023.
“Today, I joined President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau and other world leaders to commemorate the country’s 50th Independence Day in Bissau,” he said on his official X page.
“Nigeria remains committed to supporting peace and democracy not only in Guinea-Bissau but in the rest of West Africa and the world.”
Guinea-Bissau declared independence in 1973.
