Renowned Nigerian singer and activist Onyeka Onwenu has died aged 72 after collapsing at a private birthday celebration in Lagos..
The musician, often referred to as the “Elegant Stallion”, fell ill shortly after performing at an event hosted by businesswoman Stella Okoli.
Witnesses say Ms Onwenu was rushed to Reddington Hospital but could not be revived.
Despite immediate efforts to assist her and a rushed transfer to nearby Reddington Hospital, medical staff were unable to revive the beloved singer.
