Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sadness over the passing of two of Nollywood’s beloved comic actors, John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu, and Tolani Quadri Oyebamiji, popularly known as Sisi Quadri.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of “these gifted thespians who brought joy and relief to millions of Nigerians by the exercise of their geniuses.”
The President exhorted the bereaved to find solace in the truth that even though Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadri have passed on, their works will remain an everlasting source of inspiration and good cheer for many.
Tinubu also extended his sympathies to the Actors Guild of Nigeria, the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), and the entire creative community, assuring them of his support, thoughts, and prayers during this period of grief.


The iconic Yoruba Nollywood actress Sisi Quadri, aged 44, passed away on March 1st, while the renowned comic actor John Okafor, better known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, died on March 2nd at the age of 62.
Their untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian entertainment industry and left fans nationwide mourning the loss of two comedic talents who brought laughter and joy to countless households.
In his tribute, President Tinubu extolled the enduring impact of Mr. Ibu and Sisi Quadri’s work, which he described as a “fount of good cheer” for Nigerians.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed entertainers and extended his wishes for comfort to all those mourning their loss.
