Soldiers parade in the Gabonese capital, Libreville, where the head of the military junta, General Brice Oligui Nguema, is expected to be sworn into office as the interim president.
He was part of a group of officers who seized power last week.
General Nguema, the commanding officer of Gabon’s elite Republican Guard, was appointed as leader of the transitional government in Gabon.
The decision, which was announced on Wednesday, came hours after the military takeover that followed Gabon’s electoral commission declaring victory for President Ali Bongo in the recently held election.
Ahead of the inauguration, the ruling group has reopened its borders to show its commitment to economic stability and good relations with neighbours.
