Thirty-two countries started the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, November 20 with group stages games. Qatar and Ecuador kick started the Mundial where Qatar lost to 2 nil to Ecuador.
One surprising result that shook the whole world was when Argentina (Qatar 2022 world cup winner) lost 1:2 to Saudi Arabia on November 22.
In this same group stage, Spain humiliated Costa Rica in a 7:0 win on 23 November in Group E.
Some countries booked their round of 16 slot after playing their second game, these countries include Brazil, Portugal, France and others.
Others too were waiting until the last whistle is blown and depending on other results from same group matches, more calculations too were pivotal for them.
After all these permutations, sixteen nations got their slot in the knockout stages, other 16 countries were left with tears.

Son Hueng-min – (South Korea)
South Korean star Son Hueng-min commenced the crying. He started when they lost their second game against Ghana in the group stages.
Son was seen weeping just because he taught his dream of making it to the knockout stage was over.
But thankfully, they won their last match, and to put the icing on the cake, Ghana lost their last match in a 2:0 to Uruguay which helped brought smiles to the Tottenham Hotspur’s forward.
Unfortunately, they lost their knockout game in a 4:1 to South American power house Brazil and that ended their campaign.
Luis Suarez – (Uruguay)
The Uruguay and former Barcelona star was in a joyful mode when they were leading Ghana in a 2:0 win when he was substitute in the second half of the most anticipated match. Suarez was seen on the bench in a quite mode until South Korea doubled their goal in a 2:1 win over Portugal getting to the last minute.
Suarez could not sit when the news broke, Uruguay needed a just a goal to progress to the round of 16 but Ghana’s goalkeeper Ati Zigi denied the Uruguayan team in the last minutes of the match.
After the last whistle, Suarez’s started weeping uncontrollably.
He was crying just because at age 35, the 2022 FIFA World Cup was going to be his last career appearance for his country.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians were not all that sad simply because they have seen Suarez cry and also Uruguay could not make it to the knockout stages.
Many Ghanaians were sharing their joy on Twitter indicating that Ghana have been able to block Uruguay and Suarez from booking a slot at the round of 16 and that alone is enough.
Neymar Jnr. – (Brazil)
Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jnr. has been one of most liked players in the world football for his foot works and fashion.
Neymar was injured in the group stage and had to wait for the Brazil to qualify for the knockout stage. Neymar returned from injury to join the team in the round of 16 and quarter finals.
The former Barcelona star was heartbroken and could not control his tears when they lost on penalties to Croatia in a 4:2 win on one Friday night.
Once again Neymar was not able to carry Brazil to the promise land.
Harry Kane – (England)
The ‘Is Coming Home’ captain was not able qualify his nation to Semi-finals on December 10, 2022.
England lost their much-awaited clash with France in a 1:2 that Saturday night. Kane scored one penalty and missed one.
Kane broke in tears because he feels he has let his country down and much breeze himself for strong language headlines in the papers and online the next hours in the English media.
Cristiano Ronaldo – (Portugal)
