Ghana’s Inspector General of Police has introduced a new initiative which sort to compensate families of Police officers who die on duty.
The Ghanaian IGP says qualified relatives will be recruited into the service whenever a Police officer dies on duty.
Dr George Akuffo Dampare disclosed this in a lecture on Thursday at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The IGP spoke on the theme “The changing face of policing in Ghana: expectations and the role of the university community.”
He said there are many problems the service is currently facing but his vision is to make Ghana’s Police service the most efficient institution in the Country.
“We want a police service of the people, by the people and for the people. We want to make the service the best institution in the country and a reference point in the world.”
The Ghanaian IGP ended his lecture by asking the Ghanaian populace for criticisms but in a constructive way in other not to demoralise his men and women in the service.
