A delegation of five senior officers from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) participated in the 2025 Military Flight Training Conference in Sardinia, Italy, from 31 March to 2 April 2025.
The conference, organised by Defence iQ, brought together aviation experts from around the world to discuss training efficiency and cost-effective solutions in military aviation.
The NAF delegation was led by Air Vice Marshal SK Aneke and included instructor pilots and an artificial intelligence expert, highlighting the service’s focus on technological innovation in its training programmes.
Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), emphasised the importance of this participation, stating: “An air force’s strength is not just in its aircraft, but in the people who wake up every day ready to defend the nation, no matter the cost.”
Key topics at the conference included the integration of advanced technologies into training programmes, enhancing interoperability between international forces, and exploring industry-supported training initiatives such as outsourcing solutions.
The conference provided NAF officers with a platform to exchange knowledge with their international counterparts and gain insights into emerging trends in military flight training.
This participation aligns with the CAS’s key driver of “deliberate training and force-oriented force development” and the service’s ongoing efforts to enhance human capital development and optimise operational effectiveness through modern training methodologies.
