Senegal’s President Macky Sall celebrated Morocco’s win against Portugal, commending the Atlas Lions’ eye-catching performance during the quarter-finals game.
“Historical! And fantastic! The Atlas Lions are qualified for the semi-finals of the World Cup! Bravo Morocco,” the president wrote on Twitter.
Sall has been proud of Morocco’s stellar performances during the World Cup. Following the country’s qualification to the quarter-finals, the president sent Morocco a message of heartwarming congratulations for making the continent proud.
Morocco defeated Portugal 1-0 to qualify for the semi-finals tonight. The Atlas Lions made Morocco the first Arab and African country to qualify for the semi-finals in World Cup history.
Sall was not the first leader to celebrate Morocco. Videos showed Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also celebrating the victory with his family as they waved Moroccan flags.
Morocco will now play against the winner of the game between France and England
