Singapore’s Changi Airports International signs deals to improve Cairo International Airport

Singapore’s Changi Airports International inked Thursday August 17 in Singapore two deals with Cairo Airport Company to jointly develop Cairo International Airport, “Ahram Online” reports, citing the North African country’s Civil Aviation Ministry.
The first deal, a consultancy agreement, is passenger-focused and seeks to implement impactful solutions to improve the passenger experience at Cairo International Airport, the ministry said.
The second is for a feasibility study for developing “Cairo Cargo City”, a new area at Cairo International Airport earmarked for cargo and logistics development, the ministry added.
Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammed Abbas Helmy who headed a prominent Egyptian delegation during a visit to Changi Airports, argued that the agreements align with the strategic plan to make Egypt a pivotal hub for passenger and cargo traffic.
“Changi Airports has won the Skytrax World’s Best Airport Award a record 12 times and is one of the top airport hubs in the world”, Magdy Azzer, the Chairman and CEO of Cairo Airport Company appreciated.
Changi Airports International Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Eugene Gan on the other hand stressed that the agreement seeks to unlock Cairo Airport’s tremendous potential for growth, leveraging on its status as one of the busiest airports in Africa by passenger and cargo volumes.
