Angry taxi drivers blockaded roads over the impounding of their vehicles.
There have been incidents of looting in some shops, and it seems it’s the taxi drivers who dealt with the looters.
Taxis are blocking important intersections around the Durban CBD. According to the Metro Police, the protesting drivers have taken issue with Operation Shanela, a provincial government programme responsible for law enforcement relating to the taxi industry. Minor incidents of looting were reported earlier on Umgeni Road during the taxi blockade.
