In a bid to enhance their training and knowledge, officers currently undergoing training at the Bwebajja Police Senior and Command School embarked on an informative and valuable familiarisation tour of the Police Command and Control Centre. This tour, which took place on November 4, 2023, aimed to provide the officers with a comprehensive understanding of CCTV camera operations and their crucial role in law enforcement.
The officers were welcomed by senior officials from the Police Command and Control Center, who guided them through the state-of-the-art facility.
The visit began with an in-depth presentation on the importance of CCTV cameras in monitoring public spaces, preventing crime, and ensuring overall safety and security within communities.
During the tour, the officers had the opportunity to observe real-time surveillance operations and witness how the centralised control centre monitors multiple locations simultaneously. They were shown how the centre utilises advanced technology to track and respond to incidents swiftly, providing critical support to police officers on the ground.
Additionally, the officers were given a hands-on demonstration of the various functionalities of CCTV cameras, including zooming capabilities, facial recognition, and licence plate identification. They were able to witness the power of these tools in aiding investigations and apprehending criminals.
The familiarisation tour also highlighted the importance of proper maintenance and continuous monitoring of CCTV systems. Officers learned about the protocols and procedures involved in collecting and reviewing footage, as well as the legal considerations surrounding privacy and data protection.
Reflecting on the experience, one of the officers expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the advanced technologies employed in modern law enforcement. They emphasised the value of this training and how it would significantly contribute to their ability to effectively serve and protect their communities.
The Bwebajja Police Senior and Command School are committed to equipping officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to adapt to the ever-evolving demands of law enforcement. This familiarisation tour at the Police Command and Control Centre served as a valuable stepping stone in achieving that goal, ensuring that officers are well-prepared to utilise CCTV cameras and other advanced tools in their future endeavours.
