Laporta spoke on Leo Messi during Barca’s North American pre-season tour. So to did Xavi who praised the Argentine and he will wait and see if the Barca legend makes a return to the club in the short term. However, in the recent presentation of new signing, Jules Kounde, the Barca president did not want to talk on the subject of Messi.
“We have a moral debt to him and we’ll see what happens. It’s clear what Leo means to us, but now is not the time to talk about it”, explained the president of ‘Los Azulgranas’ to the media.
“In the US a lot of Latin American TV outlets asked us about this subject because there’s a lot of interest and we answered them in a more relaxed environment, but now we are not able to say anything more”, added Joan Laporta.
Laporta did not speak on the subject further as he wanted to be careful with PSG. “Messi is a PSG player and the club deserves respect. He has a contract there and we will speak about things in the future. So please allow me not to speak about this subject right now”, he said.
The news from France is that PSG are wanting to renew Messi’s contract beyond 2023. Amongst all this, Barcelona are dreaming of giving the club legend a deserved chance to return to the Camp Nou.
