Ghanaian youngster Joseph Amoako, who was serving a two-year prison sentence in Sweden for rape, has been released after it was discovered that he had been wrongly convicted.
Charges of rape have been dropped against the Ghanaian forward after the “fake story” was unraveled, the players manager had said.
Mr Derrick D Thompson, confirmed the news of his client’s release on March 8, 2023, following a false accusation of for raping a 16-year-old Swedish girl in December 2022.
“They just released him yesterday from the prison after the appeal was made,” Derrick D Thompson told Ghanasoccernet.com
“The case was fake, the girl was lying. Upon appeal, Amoako has been released. It was all a fake story from the girl so he is now a free man.”
The young goal poacher was suspended as a result of the allegation by Helsingborgs IF football club in October 2022 later terminated his contract after being detained on grounds of suspected of rape.
He has however been released and all charges dropped after it turned out that that the girl had lied about the incident during an appeal.
