German giants Bayern Munich is poised to renew the contract of their Moroccan player, Adam Aznou, following his strong performance in the Under-19 category, leading to his promotion to training with the first team.
Aznou made a notable appearance on Saturday against Swiss side Basel in a friendly match.
Reports from German media indicate that the Bavarian team is keen on renewing Aznou’s contract to shield him from the aspirations of clubs that might seek to secure his services. The Moroccan player has firmly established himself within Bayern Munich’s ranks.
The promising 17-year-old Aznou made his presence felt when he was substituted into Bayern’s lineup in the 78th minute, with coach Thomas Tuchel deploying him as a right-back in the friendly match against Basel.
The game ended in a positive draw, each side scoring one goal.
Tuchel’s decision to include Aznou in first-team training reflects the young player’s significant physical and technical capabilities.
Notably, Aznou had previously chosen to represent the Moroccan national team in the Under-17 category.
He participated in the “Atlas Cubs” camp, gearing up for the 2023 Indonesia World Cup, although coach Saïd Chiba ultimately omitted him from the final squad.
Aznou’s current contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2024.
The club secured his services from the youth ranks of the Spanish club Barcelona, where he played in the Under-16 category.
