Bilateral relations between the governments of Egypt and Zimbabwe continue to grow in leaps and bounds with the two countries forging ties in the housing sector.
As Zimbabwe continues its effort to engage and re-engage, the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable July Moyo, on Thursday November 17, 2022, met with the Egyptian Deputy Minister of National Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities on the sidelines of the ongoing COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, where they discussed a number of investment opportunities and areas of cooperation.
Emerging from the talks His Excellency Mr Abdel Khalek Ibrahim, expressed his government’s commitment towards cooperation with Zimbabwe in the housing sector.
“We are very pleased to have met with the minister and we talked on a number of things and investment is on the cards. Already this week we have a delegation that flew to Zimbabwe and met the government there. We will continue cementing our relations especially in the housing sector,” he said.
The meeting is part of a series of engagements that began in February this year as revealed by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable July Moyo.
“I told the minister that our President has been briefed on the cooperation between our two countries, we are also thankful that they sent a team to Harare to validate our planning and now that we are moving very fast in the implementation stage we are thinking that our cooperation with Egypt will intensify and some of the companies we met in February have already met our President and are willing to undertake investment in Zimbabwe and we hope many more are will do that,” he explained.
The Zimbabwean Government has been courting Egyptian engineers for the implementation of the smart cities concept in the southern African country.
