Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa has re-appointed his vice presidents four days after he was sworn in for a second term.
Mnangagwa reappointed former Zimbabwe Defence Forces commander, Retired General Constantino Chiwenga and also Kembo Mohadi.
Both Chiwenga and Mohadi are also Mangangwa’s deputies in the ruling Zanu PF political party.
Chiwenga and Mohadi were sworn in by Chief Justice Luke Malaba at the State House in Harare, Friday.
Mnangagwa is now expected to unveil a new Cabinet anytime from now.
He was on Monday, September 4, sworn in for a second five-year term in office after securing a majority – 52.6 percent – of the votes during the presidential elections held on August 23.
Mnangagwa’s ruling Zanu PF party secured 136 seats in the 210-seat National Assembly.
Members of the House of Assembly and of the Senate were sworn in yesterday at the new Parliament Building, 25 kilometres northeast of the capital, Harare.
Representatives of local authorities across the country were also sworn in.
Analysts in Harare say the swearing-in of opposition legislators and councilors after they earlier rejected the August 23 general election outcome reflects that the opposition now agrees with the election process and eventual outcome.
Mnangagwa took the oath of office at the National Sports Stadium in the capital Harare after being sworn in by Chief Justice Malaba.
