Riyad Mahrez, the former Manchester City, is leaving no room for uncertainty as he expresses his confidence in securing the esteemed African Footballer of the Year award.
The Algerian maestro, renowned for his dazzling skills and impactful contributions on the field, exudes assurance as the eagerly awaited ceremony approaches.
Mahrez’s exceptional performances throughout the year not only cement his status among Africa’s football elite but also fuel his belief that the highly sought-after accolade is destined to be in his possession.
In an interview with ‘L’Equipe,’ he stated, “I’ve been a key player in the Premier League and FA Cup, a little less so in the Champions League, but in recent years I’ve always been important in this competition. It’s only logical that I should be rewarded with this award.”
Mahrez acknowledged the competition, noting the presence of players like Mane and Salah, but emphasized his contributions, especially in Manchester City’s historic treble-winning season.
“Normally, there’s always Mane and Salah, but last year it was a bit more difficult for them collectively. It’s true that he won the Europa League, but that’s nothing compared to a historic treble with Manchester City. So we’ll see…” he added.
