Ghana’s hopes for a medal in the men’s 100m at the Paris Olympics have ended after Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu failed to reach the final.
Azamati, the national record holder, clocked 10.17 seconds to finish ninth overall in the semi-finals.
Saminu, on his Olympic debut, came seventh in his semi-final heat with a time of 10.05 seconds.
The results bring Ghana’s individual sprint campaign to a disappointing close.

Azamati will now turn his attention to the 4x100m relay, where he hopes to aid Ghana’s medal prospects.
