Many Ghanaian supporters including legendary Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan, have complained lately about the absence of Ashimeru his Otto Addo’s recent call-ups.
The player was again missing in the Black Stars’ squad for the pre-world Cup friendlies against against Brazil, Nicaragua and Switzerland.
However, Addo seems to have given the Belgium-based midfielder some hope in his latest interview.
“Majeed Ashimeru, for him, it’s more bad luck, let’s put it like that, because every time he was called up, he was injured before Nigeria or in June,” Addo is quoted as saying by Africa Football News.
“I must admit that those who played in the midfield had good matches, whether against Nigeria, Madagascar, even against Mozambique, or even Chile, they performed well. But it’s clear he’s on our radar and he’s selectable.
“We’re watching him and before the World Cup anything can happen, but he’s been unlucky for the past six months with his injuries. So I hope in any case that he will be spared from injury, and after that, who knows, he also has every chance of being part of the group that will play the 2022 World Cup. He is good at the moment, we are watching him.” he concluded.
Ghana who beat Nigeria to seal qualification for the tournament, will meet Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, South Korea and old foes Uruguay in Group H.
Ghana will kick start the group stage campaign against Portugal on 24th November, 2022 before they later face South Korea and Uruguay on 28th November and 2nd December, 2022 respectively.
