The Black Stars of Ghana suffered a 2–0 defeat against Mexico in their latest international friendly played on Saturday at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In an electrifying encounter, Mexico showcased their prowess on the pitch by securing a convincing 2-0 victory with goals from Hirving “Chucky” Lozano and Uriel Antuna over Ghana in

It was the fourth time in succession that the Black Stars have been beaten by the Mexicans ever since their first meeting in 2006.

The Mexican team displayed excellent coordination and tactical prowess throughout the game. The breakthrough came in the 57th minute when the talented striker, Chucky Lozano, beautifully manoeuvred through Ghana’s defence to find the back of the net. Luis Chavez assisted the PSV striker on a set piece for “Chucky” to cut towards the middle of the box and shoot for the score.

This remarkable goal not only boosted Mexico’s morale but also ignited the spirits of their passionate supporters.

Not long after, in the 71st minute, Uriel Antuna sealed the victory for Mexico with a stunning strike from outside the penalty area. Antuna’s precision and power left Ghana’s goalkeeper helpless.

The subtitute tore the Ghanaian defense to shreds to extend Mexico’s lead to 2-0.

Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi hesitated on an incoming cross to allow Antuna a goal.

Ghana, on the other hand, struggled to find its rhythm and was unable to mount a successful response to Mexico’s dominance.

With 54% of ball possession time, Chris Hughton’s men could not get a single shot on goal in their entire 90 minutes, only generating four opportunities.

They simply failed to break through Mexico’s solid defence to create significant goal-scoring opportunities.

This defeat leaves Ghana in a challenging position, relying heavily on their upcoming match against the United States on Tuesday to secure a much-needed win and regain their momentum.

Mexico’s impressive performance serves as a testament to their strong form and cohesion ahead of upcoming tournaments. Their victory against Ghana will undoubtedly boost their confidence as they continue to prepare for future challenges on the international stage.

It was the fourth time the two sides were meeting in such friendlies, as their last meeting was in 2017, where a goal from Elías Hernández from a penalty gave the Mexicans a win.

In the first two games, Ghana lost by 1-0 in 2006 before the FIFA World Cup in Germany, while Mexico again won 2-1 in 2008.

With their sights set on redemption, Ghana faces an uphill battle as they play against the United States on Tuesday.
