Moroccan football sensation Achraf Hakimi has cemented his place among the elite defenders in the world, as he finds himself listed among the top 10 most expensive defenders in the current transfer market, with his market value estimated at 65 million euros.
That is according to an updated ranking of the world’s most expensive players published by the German football transfer-focused website Transfermarkt.
The list’s top two are Croatian center-back Josko Gvardiol and Portuguese center-back Ruben Dias. Both defenders play with the English Premier League club Manchester City and are valued at 80 million euros each.
The Transfermarkt ranking is based on criteria such as performance in club and national teams, age, club deal, and statistics.
Earlier this month, French sports publication L’Equipe named Hakimi one of the top eleven players for week eight of the Ligue 1 season.
The recognition came to celebrate the Moroccan player’s outstanding performance during PSG’s 3-1 defeat of Rennes in week 8 of France’s top-tier football league.
Hakimi was outstanding in that match, scoring a goal in the 36th minute and assisting Randal Kolo Muani’s third goal in the 58th minute.
