Accra, Ghana (May 14, 2024) – The stage is set for the opening matches of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 Boys Cup of Nations, which gets underway on Wednesday, May 15 at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
The biennial youth tournament, featuring six West African nations, will double as a qualifier for the 2025 TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The participating teams vying for the regional title and a spot at the U-17 AFCON are hosts Ghana, defending champions Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Niger, Togo and Burkina Faso.
All matches will be played at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra over the two-week period from May 15-29.
The opening match on May 15 will see hosts Ghana take on Cote d’Ivoire, while defending champions Nigeria face Burkina Faso and Togo meets Niger in the other games on day two.
Nigeria are the reigning champions after defeating Burkina Faso 3-2 in the 2022 final. But host nation Ghana will be looking to capitalize on home advantage in their quest to claim the regional crown.
Reigning champions Nigeria, host Ghana as well as Cote D’Ivoire, Benin. Niger, Togo and Burkina Faso will vie for the title and a ticket to the next edition of the TotalEnergies U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
