The Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) has confirmed the killing of four persons during a bandit attack in Giyawa village in Goronyo Local Government Area of the State.
Confirming the attack, the command’s spokesperson, Ahmed Rufai, told Channels Television that eighteen persons were initially abducted by the assailants who also carted away valuables, including livestock.
He, however, said seven of the abductees later escaped and returned to their community where many residents have fled for safety.
Though other sources from the affected community told the TV station that over 30 persons were abducted, the police maintained that only eleven persons were still with the attackers.
Mr Rufai noted that men of the command are currently on the trail of the assailants and are making efforts to ensure normalcy is restored to the affected community and environs.
