Head Coach of Ghana’s Black Stars has named a provisional 55-man squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup slated for Qatar later this month.
The squad is made up of five(5) goalkeepers, 17 defenders, 14 midfielders, 13 wingers and six(6) forwards.
Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim and Hearts of Oak duo, Dennis Korsah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh are the only players in the squad plying their trades in the domestic league of the West African nation.
Stade Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been included in the squad despite missing out on his club’s UEFA Europa League last group match against AEK Larnaca on Thursday night due to an ankle injury.
meanwhile FC Sheriff Tiraspol duo Patrick Kpozo and Mudasiru Slaifu have also been rewarded for their consistency at club level in the Moldovan Super League and the Europa League but attacker Benard Tekpetey misses out despite having a terrific season with Ludogorets FC in Romania.
Head coach Otto will cut down the squad size to 26 before submitting to world’s football governing body latest by November 13, 2022.
Ghana will open their World Cup campaign against Portugal on November 24 before facing South Korea four days later.
The Black Stars will face 2010 foe Uruguay on December 2 in their final group stage match.
