Yanga v Sundowns
Time: 6 pm, Saturday
Venue: Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam
This is the first time Young Africans are playing in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League as it is even their second-ever campaign in the Money Zone.
Yanga and Sundowns are poles apart in terms of experience at this level as the South Africans have been regular customers in the last decade.
Miguel Angel Gamondi’s Yanga are in the form of their lives as they lead the Ligi Kuu Bara after playing 21 matches by 5 points with a game in hand. Yanga has not tasted a single defeat in their last 13 home games. They have recorded 12 wins and drawn one (against Al Ahly). Yanga thrashed Medeama (3-0) and Belouizdad (4-0) at home in the CAF Champions. These are scary results and hence Mamelodi Sundowns must fully prepare for them.
The Tanzanians face a tactically good side that can hurt any opponent on any day. Mamelodi Sundowns has always looked good since Rhulani Mokwena took charge of the team. The Brazilians comfortably lead the PSL with the other clubs having no chance to catch them. They now have the chance to concentrate on the coveted CAF Champions League which they have flattered to deceive in recent seasons, especially in the knockout phase.
Team News
Young Africans and Mamelodi Sundowns have not reported any serious injuries in their squads so fully fit squads are expected in Dar es Salaam.
