Famous Nigerian singer Davido has announced a large philanthropic donation to help orphanages across the country.
In a post on his social media page on Tuesday, Davido revealed that he and his foundation will be donating 300 million naira (approximately $700,000 USD) as their “yearly contribution to the nation.”
The generous funds are earmarked for various orphanages in Nigeria, as part of Davido’s desire to give back to society and make a difference for children in need.
“I and my foundation pledge the sum of 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria as my yearly contribution to the nation,” the award-winning afrobeats star stated.
While the specifics of how the money will be distributed are still unclear, Davido promised more details would be revealed soon. “Details of disbursement tomorrow,” his post added.
This is not the first time Davido has used his wealth and influence for philanthropic acts in Nigeria. In 2021, he donated 250 million naira to orphanages across the country as well.
The latest pledge comes just weeks after Davido performed at O2 Arena in London to raise money for orphaned children in Africa alongside international artists like Chris Brown.
Davido established his charity organization The Adeleke Foundation back in 2022.
It focuses on empowering youths through quality education and supporting children in financial need.
