Zamalek interim chairman Soliman Wahdan has revealed a new manager will be appointed in the upcoming few hours to replace Jesualdo Ferreira.
The Whites have been having a torrid season so far, sitting fifth on the league table, 11 points behind leaders Al-Ahly, who still have two games in hand.
Moreover, the club were knocked out of the CAF Champions League group-stages for the third year in a row as well as losing to Pyramids FC in the Egypt Cup semi-finals.
This led to a lot of pressure on Portuguese manager Jesualdo Ferreira, who is set to be sacked and replaced by a new head coach with the next hours.
Soliman Wahdan spoke to On Time Sports TV channel as he said: “Within 48 hours, there will be news that will please Zamalek fans regarding the coaching staff.
“The new coach will be an Egyptian from Zamalek’s sons. He will have a great opportunity to prove himself in the rest of the season and to restore the pride of the players and the performance of the team.
“Zamalek’s board of directors agreed on the name of Zamalek’s new coach, and it will be announced within 48 hours.
“We are only competing for the League Cup this season, and the Egyptian league is very far away.
“We need the players to understand well the value of Zamalek’s shirt, and fines will be imposed on the team.
“Ismail Youssef will lead the training session of Zamalek on Tuesday, with the rest of the technical staff,” he added.
The whites will face Bank Al-Ahly in the round of 16 in the League Cup next Sunday, March 26.
