Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has met with members of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana in the capital city of Accra to throw more light on his policies for the industry and the nation.
It comes as part of his continued engagements with key stakeholders, as he seeks to lead the nation in the upcoming general election scheduled for December 2024.
In his remarks, VP Bawumia emphasized his policies for the pharmaceutical industry and the nation as a whole, promising to Transform the Sector.
“The interaction, also gave me further insight into issues of concern to members of the Society, which I pledged to include in my policy,” he said.
“Transforming the industry and making Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa to start with, will be of enormous benefits to Ghana, and my government, by the grace of God, will focus on that.”
The Vice President expressed confidence that with the right “committed political will and investment” to support the industry, it is possible to achieve the goal of making Ghana a regional pharmaceutical leader.
Vice President Bawumia is contesting the country’s December 2024 election as the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, and the ongoing stakeholder engagements form part of his campaign agenda ahead of the election.
