Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali has praised Ethiopia’s young innovators during a visit to the Abrehot Library, highlighting the facility’s role in nurturing technological talent.
The library, whose name means “enlightenment” in Amharic, has become a hub for young Ethiopians exploring fields such as robotics and software development.
During his visit, Mr Abiy met with young developers and tech enthusiasts who demonstrated their projects in robotics and application development.
“The next generation must continue to strengthen their skills in areas like AI, coding, and cybersecurity,” the prime minister said, emphasising alignment with national development objectives.
The library’s distinctive architecture features the word “wisdom” inscribed in 18 different languages on its facade, reflecting its mission to serve as a multicultural centre of learning.
Since its establishment, Abrehot has positioned itself as more than a traditional library, evolving into an innovation centre supporting Ethiopia’s digital transformation aspirations.
The prime minister’s visit underscores the government’s push to develop technology sectors as part of its economic modernisation strategy.
