Ghanaian junior athletes have arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire to participate in a 4-Nation Junior Athletics Championships at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
A contingent of 15 Ghanaian junior athletes and three officials departed Accra on Thursday, bound for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to participate in a two-day competition, which kicks off on Friday, April 19th, and concludes on Saturday, April 20th.
The participating nations in this prestigious junior meet are Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, and the host nation, Ivory Coast.
The Ghanaian contingent comprises athletes drawn from senior high schools and athletic clubs across the country. They will be competing in track and field events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump, and relay races.
This multi-nation competition provides an excellent opportunity for Ghana’s young talents to gain valuable experience on the international stage as they compete against their peers from the other participating nations.
The Ghana Athletics Association has high hopes for the performances of their junior athletes, who have been rigorously preparing for this championships. A strong showing in Abidjan could potentially unearth new stars for Ghana’s athletics landscape.
