President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Dr. Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, has announced the bank’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s efforts in addressing humanitarian crisis and drive to reduce poverty index, Nigeria’s Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has said.
The declaration came during a meeting between Nigerian Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu and the IsDB boss at the ongoing COP28 Climate Change Conference in Dubai, where global leaders are convening to discuss urgent actions to combat climate change and its adverse effects.
“Encouraged by President #officialABAT’s Renewed Hope Agenda which seeks to reduce humanitarian crises and alleviate poverty in Nigeria, the Islamic Development Bank has pledged to support Nigeria scale up response to humanitarian crisis and drive to reduce poverty index,” the ministry said on its official X post.
Recognizing the humanitarian crisis Nigeria faces, including increasing natural disasters and rising poverty rates, Dr. Al Jasser emphasized the IsDB Group’s dedication to providing vital assistance to the country.
